Finding a 'different enough' eyeshadow palette in the oversaturated beauty market is a real challenge. Warm tones have taken over years ago and it doesn't seem to stop anytime soon. A cool toned palette seemed impossible to find, until somehow I bumped into Smashbox Punked Cover Shot Eye Palette and I was smitted instantly to say the least.
Upon seeing the palette, my first thought was how well put together it is. A mix of taupes, greys and mauves with a pop of purple really flows together well and makes the ultimate grungy palette that the beauty market yearned for.

Punked palette contains 3 shimmers and 4 mattes. The shimmers range from:
- a light silver with slight pink reflect ('headliner')
- a perfect natural, spot on taupe ('studded')
- a true violet based purple ('riot girl')
The array of mattes allow you to bulid depth with no need to reach for another palette or single shadows. From light to dark there are:
- a dusty pink cream colour ('anarkissed')
- a neutral to slighty warm mauve ('soft punch')
- a true taupe ('destroyer')
- dark, almost purple/blue based grey ('punked')
- cool toned based black ('combat boots')

To me this is such a staple palette! Cooler toned eyeshadows are always so flattering, appropriate for work and daytime, but also an evergreen for the nighttime.
Matte eyeshadows are just the right amount pigmented, blend very well, there is almost no skipping when applied and during blending. The shimmers really do glimmer in a way that makes your eyes pop without being obnoxious and in your face. The formula I would describe to be a classic foil formula, with little fallout. Overall, when in doubt what palette to pick to do my daily look, I grab the Punked palette and never get dissapointed with my final look. The size of the palette is also praise worthy, being travel friendly and easy to store.
