Kiko Milano Unlimited Lip Glosses (Hot Pink & Satin Mauve)

Kiko Milano Unlimited Lip Glosses (Hot Pink & Satin Mauve)

Kiko Milano is a brand I've only known about since I started blogging. They are based in Italy, and so many of my European blogger buddies have blushes, eye products, lipsticks from them and rave about the high quality, luxurious packaging and affordable prices. They actually remind me of—not to be confusing with, Milani Cosmetics: the U.S.-based brand that is Italian-inspired (their tagline is Inspired By Milan, Look by Milani) My interest piqued when they had an offer for free shipping over $9. Torn over what to get, I finally decided to settle with 2 of the Unlimited Lip Glosses: 18 Satin Mauve (right) and 24 Hot Pink (left). They cost $5 per tube, so ordering 2 made it perfect to take advantage of the free shipping. They come in 24 shades.

Instead of the lip gloss in a cylinder tube and doe-footed applicator that I am used to, these come in a paint tube and sponge applicator, similar to the Lancome Juicy Tubes. They are described as soft, creamy, and ultra-glossy and can last up to 6 hours with comfort and lightness without the stickiness. I'm not really sure if I agree with that.

There is a little bit of stickiness, but the more worrisome thing to me is that it feels oily and greasy, especially Satin Mauve. And as a lip gloss, I definitely do not expect it to last through a meal or cup of coffee, especially compared to a matte liquid lipstick. It is also very messy and hard to apply on my lips...totally not at all precise. This is why it looks messy around my lips in the photos below. No matter how much I tried to clean it up, it just would not budge.

As you can see in my swatches below, there is very little pigment and more clear liquid residue to feels oily.

As expected, I do like how Hot Pink looks on me a lot. It is gorgeous on my skin tone, and yes universally flattering for all skin tones. It's that juicy jeweled perfect shade for the summer, especially paired with BB cream, cream blush, and mascara for a low maintenance look.

Hot Pink

I don't think Satin Mauve and I can be friends. It picks up some color on the my phone camera, but don't be fooled: it actually looks a lot more nude on me, and hardly shows up in person. And this shade especially has more oiliness and less color.

Though I can see myself wearing Hot Pink on a regular basis, I wish I could have gotten the redder shades of the lip gloss. Still, based on this reviews, I don't think I will be coming back for these. It doesn't turn be off from Kiko as a whole. I still definitely want to try the lipsticks, blushes and individual eyeshadows. I want to, and should have, ordered the Velvet Passion Matte Lipsticks instead.

Have you tried Kiko's Unlimited Lip Glosses? If I were to shop at Kiko again, what are your recommendations for me?
